30 Day Juice Cleanse

I've been sharing part of my 30 day juice cleanse through my personal instagram account and have had some questions about my protocol, so here it is in slightly rough form.

PROTOCOL

Almost every day on the cleanse I drank cabala juice for my morning and lunch time juices, up until day 21. I had two or three days during that period where I felt the lemon was too intense, so I substituted vegetable juices with red onion and garlic instead. The lemon was probably doing my system lots of good, but I couldn’t handle the nausea on a couple of those days.

Nausea can be a sign that the body is releasing toxins, usually on a cleanse it is common to experience what is known as Herxheimer Reaction, which usually has flu-like symptoms, such as some or all of the following: nausea, headaches, joint and muscle pain, body aches, chills, sweating, a general ill feeling. This reaction can deter people from moving forward on a cleanse, as symptoms may temporarily get worst before they get better. The herxheimer reaction occurs when large amounts of pathogens are being killed off, and the body cannot eliminate them quick enough – so a way to help the body overcome these symptoms can be to stimulate or flush the excretory paths, dry body brushing, sitting in a sauna or hot bath to sweat, do a salt flush, or coffee enema etc. are all methods of helping the system release toxins a lot faster. Increasing rest or simply going slower with the detox protocol can also help. For me  I skipped lemon for a couple of days, and did some coffee enemas.

This is my rough protocol, I also meditated daily, set intentions to release all that is no longer serving me for my highest good (physical, mental, emotional), did some coffee enemas - one on day two, then no more until at least the third week, went to the ocean and had some herbal (no caffeine) teas but cannot remember when specifically unless I mentioned them below. Time spent in Nature always soothed everything in my being and amplified my energy!

Day 1

Juice all day, a swim in the ocean and a rest under the sun.

Day 2

Morning coffee enema (to really get the ball rolling). Coffee enemas stimulate the gall bladder, and also the liver to produce Glutathione S Transerase, which basically circulates our blood system and binds to toxins, which we then flush back out as we feel the urge to go to the toilet. You can both hear and feel the stimulation of your liver and gall bladder when doing a coffee enema. Coffee enemas leave you feeling a lot lighter, and high on life, it has definitely been worth sorting out my initial (intense) resistance and fear around them.

Lots of purified water to rehydrate and help my body to continue flushing out toxins. Juice as per normal, just started later in the day.

Day 3

Morning salt flush.

Followed by lots of purified water to rehydrate, and juice as per normal, just started late again in the day.

Day 4 – 8

Just juice, no other form of detoxification.

Day 9 and 10

I started to witness mucoid plaque leaving my system! No mix up with psyllium husk, I had only been drinking juice, this was definitely mucoid plaque, it’s a firm but rubbery texture with lots of lines imprinted along it, there also seemed to be little rope worm parasites bundles in there too! The days leading up to here I really felt nauseous and quite lethargic, so seeing all of this come out made me understand why!

After the mucoid plaque came out I felt so much better. Although nausea did kick in again a couple of days later, but it wasn’t unbearable, it was just there at different times of the day.

I was however also feeling like something more substantial, juice wasn’t quite satisfying me at night, I was craving warmth and salt. I made a big batch of veggie broth and added celtic sea salt to it which flushed my complexion back to a healthy tone, satisfied and energised me! Drank this for the next four nights.

Day 13 and 14

I witnessed so much black gunk leave my body!! So insane to witness, it actually blew my mind, especially because I had only been drinking juice for two weeks! In Ayurvedic terms this is known as ama, a toxic sludge that is the result of previously undigested food and chemicals (herbicides, pesticides, heavy metals, fumes, cosmetic chemicals etc.), potentially also viruses, bad bacteria etc. I have been eating predominantly organic food for the past five years now, and limiting my interaction with synthetic chemicals, specifically beauty care, however with the conventional Western lifestyle, most of us eat so frequently that the body does not have an opportunity to ‘clean house’, as it spends most of its energy digesting food. When we give our digestive systems a break, that’s when the body, specifically enzymes have an opportunity to roam around and digest free radicals, clear out built up ama etc. Hence the importance of periodic cleansing if not integrating fasting/cleansing into your weekly routine. Cleansing is not a modern day concept, it has been around since Ancient times, and even animals fast/cleanse – when they get sick the first thing they do is stop eating, their instincts guide them to do so. Cleansing isn’t about starving, quite the contrary, especially if juicing, because the cold-pressed juice literally bombs the system with nutrient dense, easy to digest ‘food’. When we clear out stagnant toxicity, or a build up of mucoid plaque, we then create an environment where our body can do a much thorough job of absorbing nutrients and minerals! In turn we create an environment not suitable for pathogens or dis-ease to thrive.

People who eat a lot and are still very very skinny may have an issue absorbing their nutrients thoroughly, and likewise people who are overweight and not going to the toilet frequently enough may have a build up of toxicity in their colon/digestive system and also may not be absorbing their nutrients thoroughly. We are all different, there are lots of body types, but basically we are what we absorb, not what we eat, and in order to absorb the most out of our food, we require an efficient digestive system.

Day 14 I started getting some nice highs of inspiration, and gratitude for life, also for having the strength to finally just do this cleanse! I could see that the journey wasn’t as difficult as I had imagined it to be, 30 days was so do-able from this point forward, which completely inspired me to stay on it!

Day 21 the journey got tough again, energetically I was tired and the finish line seemed far, however I learnt to see that my body wanted more rest, resting is a powerful time of healing, so I did and started simply embracing each day as it came after this point.

Day 22 I stopped having cabala juice every day, and enjoyed beautiful melon juices, either watermelon or honeydew juiced with fresh ginger and/or fresh mint. I still made sure I had a lemon with the rind in at least one juice, so generally my dinner juice.

Day 28 I changed up my protocol because I saw mucoid plaque come out, I wanted to draw more of it out, as well as heavy metals from my system, so I added bentonite clay and psyllium husk to apple juice and drank that throughout the day, as well as lots of purified water!

Morning

1 glass of magnesium chloride water

Lots of purified water

Midday

1 glass of cold-pressed apple juice mixed with 1 tsp bentonite clay + 1 tsp psyllium husk.

Lots of purified water.

Late afternoon

1 glass of cold-pressed apple juice mixed with 1 tsp bentonite clay + 1 tsp psyllium husk.

1L of cold-pressed apple juice, then I spent early evening in the sauna and spa, for a couple of hours I could hear and feel gargling noise in my stomach.

Lots of purified water to rehydrate especially after the sauna.

Before bed

1 glass of purified water with 1 tsp of high quality, ultra fine zeolite. Zeolite is not sold for human consumption, so I will not tell you how I took this, I’ll leave that up to your intuition and your own path to decide on.

 1 glass of cold-pressed apple juice (organic), 1 tsp   bentonite clay  , 1 tsp psyllium husk = mucoid plaque bomb.

Day 29 and Day 30.

Day 29 late morning, I had a large amount of mucoid plaque leave my body, along with the psyllium husk, they look very different, the mucoid plaque is distinct. Day 30 I also had mucoid plaque leave my body again, not quite as much as day 29, but still a notable amount.

Lunch

A large serving of cold-pressed apple juice mixed with 1 tsp bentonite clay + 1 tsp psyllium husk. Followed by another big serve of cold pressed apple juice.

1 glass of purified water with 1 tsp of high quality, ultra fine zeolite. Zeolite is not sold for human consumption, so I will not tell you how I took this, I’ll leave that up to your intuition and your own path to decide on.


NOTES 

I’ve been easing my way back onto food, eating psyllium/chia seed puddings, watermelon, strawberries, blue majik almond milk base smoothies, these past two days, and have seen A LOT more mucoid plaque leave my body, I’m going to the toilet without any issues, the last three days on psyllium husk would have sparked all of that.

Throughout the cleanse, specifically around my two week mark I started having frequent tastes of metal in my mouth, I generally had a couple of days of this metal taste as well as feeling nauseous and then my body would clear out ama (toxic sludge!) Which made me feel SO much better. I also gained a lot of insight about my Life Path, reached a level of peace with some past decisions I made (which felt so euphoric/blissful), and saw with clarity more of who I am and what I have to offer to the world. Any kind of cleanse generally will entwine all energetic elements for cleansing whether we are aware of the different layers or not – we are after all balls of energy made up of mind, body + spirit (energy/chemistry).

The rewards I have reaped are already worth the effort, I want people to know that a 30 day juice cleanse is so doable, yes it takes effort, and you will need extra time to rest, a break from every day fast-paced living, but the experience itself is empowering, let alone the no-doubt enhanced digestive system benefits with flushed out mucoid plaque and ama!

It is also very important to note that clays come in all kinds of qualities, it is imperative to source top quality clays, especially when/if taking them internally, and also produce should be organic, a juice cleanse aims at helping the body release toxins while in turn flooding it with dense levels of nutrients, so conventional produce unfortunately will load more toxins for your organs to filter out, and a lot less nutrients.
